United Horsemen of the Carolinas

January 11, 2024

The wait is over! The United Horsemen of the Carolinas 2024 show calendar is now complete.

We are happy to announce that we will be returning to the Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh this year, for the first time in 5 years. We will be holding our season opener, two (2) day show there.

Don’t worry, we will still have our two (2) day show at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Ag Center in Williamston in Sept with the costume contest.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask  any UHC board member.

We look forward to seeing everyone this season.

OMG, you guys. Wait until you check out the 2024 class list for all UHC shows. We have some amazing new things going on this year, and we are very excited to let you all know about it. We listened to our members and exhibitors and made changes.

Just a highlight of the changes –

The training classes for each division will now be one class instead of two. It is a GAYP class, so you can still do all 3 gaits if you choose.

Equitation and Horsemanship classes will now be immediately after the training classes in each division. They will still be pattern classes.

New in 2024 – Jack Benny class for riders 39 and over. This is an open class and can be shown English, Western or Working Western. This will be the last class of the English Division. This is not eligible for year end award.

We do not have Leadline classes on the actual class list, but if we have anyone that would like to participate, we can add the class the day of the show. Just let the show office know that you have a lead line rider, and we will let the judge know.

We have also added a new feature to the class list –

Show Horse Show Down Series – this class is being offered in each division and will be a 100% money class, per division. Fee to show in this class will be $25 per exhibitor. Addition monies will be added from sponsorships for the class.

To be eligible to enter class – You must participate in two (2) additional classes within the same division.

Top 5 placings of combined points for both 2 day shows (April-Raleigh & Sept-Williamston) will be awarded cash prize at the Williamston show. You DO NOT have to be a member to qualify. These classes do NOT qualify for year end awards.

Payout will be based on # of entries in class (example: 5 entries = 1st-40%, 2nd – 30%, 3rd – 15%, 4th – 10%, 5th– 5%)

You can print this class list off if you would like. It will be the one that is used at ALL UHC shows, club and sanctioned. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach me directly or contact any UHC board member. We look forward to seeing everyone at our season opener.

In addition to great shows, great places and great people to play with, our youth has a new director & program!

From Claudia / IC you Photography

Hey everyone! So you all may know me as your trusted show photographer, but this year I’ve taken the role of Youth Director! I’m so excited to announce a new “Off Season Challenge” to keep our youth involved and engaged during these, less than stellar days.

This will be for members only, so get those memberships in to join the challenge!

Each youth to apply will receive a digital log to print and keep track of all logged activities. From now until April 26th, 2024 (right before our first show!) you will be asked to log 25 equine related activities. CHORES DO NOT COUNT. Each activity should be 30 minutes or more and signed off by an adult or instructor.

Activities to consider:

?Grooming

?Riding

?Longeing

?Learning from a vet/farrier or another equine specialist

?Liberty/trick training

At the end of the season each participant to return a completed log to me by April 26th (I will allow the 27th at the show!!) will be awarded a special Finisher award at the awards banquet!

I hope see all of our youth join in!
